Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Supbyte Sound Booster ("the extension") is dedicated to protecting your privacy. Our philosophy is simple: we provide a powerful audio tool without collecting your personal information. This policy outlines our practices and confirms our commitment to your data security.
Data Collection and Usage
We do not collect, store, sell, or transmit any personal information, browsing history, or user activity.
The only data the extension handles is your configuration settings, such as volume levels, equalizer presets, and other choices you make within the extension. This information is saved locally on your computer using the standard and secure browser storage API (`chrome.storage`). This data never leaves your machine and is not accessible to us or any third party.
Permissions Justification
Supbyte Sound Booster requires a few permissions to deliver its features. We believe in full transparency, and here is a complete list of why we need each one:
- tabCapture: This is the core permission. It is required to access the audio stream of a browser tab, which is essential for applying volume and EQ effects.
- storage: Used to save your personal settings (like volume levels and custom EQ presets) locally on your own computer.
- tabs: To identify which tab is active for applying effects and to list all audible tabs in the popup's "Audio Hub" for easy management.
- offscreen: To process audio in the background in compliance with modern Chrome Extension standards (Manifest V3), ensuring stability and high performance.
- scripting & Host Permissions (`
`): To display the on-screen Volume HUD (Heads-Up Display) on the websites you visit, providing visual feedback when you change the volume with keyboard shortcuts. - contentSettings: To accurately list your available audio output devices (e.g., headphones, speakers). This permission is only used to read device names and not for any other purpose.
- alarms: To run periodic maintenance checks that ensure the extension's audio engine remains stable during long sessions, preventing silent failures.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy in the future to reflect changes in our extension or to comply with new regulations. Any changes will be included in updated versions of the extension and will be available on our Chrome Web Store listing.
